Best projector on the market
Fantastic Projector, really pleased I bought this. It was meant as a present for our baby, but would be loved equally by older children who want to learn about & locate different stars in the galaxy. The projector itself is stylish, compact and lightweight. It's easy to use & battery operated. Batteries last a month or so, rechargeable batteries would be worth investing in. There is no option for mains. The only criticism I have is that the battery pack has a very small screw that standard screw drivers don't fit.The projector casts a very clear image that will fill an entire ceiling, works on different surfaces roof/wallpaper/curtains. Best affects in an entirely dark room. Overall I'm very happy with this projector & is reccomend it to a friend. It makes a fantastic nightlight on the timer for our baby & I'm sure hells joy it as he grows too!

works really well. Great value for money
I bought this to use in my 15 month olds room to help ease the room down to darkness. It's acts a good distraction and gives ambient lighting. I like that it's got acurate star constellations as when he's older I can show him the real ones in the night sky. Very easy to set up and did not find it difficult to focus like some of these reviews. Excellent value for money over other star projections for kids. Has 30 min off timer which is very useful.

Value for money
I bought this for my 6 year old girl. I paid around £20 on Amazon.I am entirely happy with this on the basis that it is aimed at kids. No it's not the most robust and no it's not going to impress an astronomer. The stars are a bit blobby and there is a big galaxy, which in my opinion is overpowering. It's probably not terribly accurate, but for the target audience, who's going to know. The two discs are inserted by sliding out the tray and then extending a sprung mechanism to allow the discs to drop in. I prefer the one with the consolations drawn on. The focus is adjusted by turning a ring around the lens. This took a bit of playing with, but I was able to get a good focus wherever I positioned the unit, be it on the floor or on a table. If the room is dark, as it would be at night, then it is plenty bright enough. The unit doesn't account for the varying distance the image is projected very well. This means if you get a good focus for the stars immediately above the unit then the stars on the extremities will be a bit blurred and vice versa. The unit automatically powers down after 30 minutes, so I turn it on at bedtime and leave it. We've only had it since Christmas so I can't comment about the battery use, but so far it is still running.Buy it if you want something interesting, fun and decorative. Don't buy it if you are studying astronomy. Just my opinion.

works but disappointing
The projector certainly works. When focussed it makes a crisp image and isn't too bad even placed in a corner where the ceiling is obviously at varying distances. It has the obvious constellations (I am no star gazer so I cannot vouch for accuracy). The disk with cconstellations marked is ok but not what I was wanting (just want a sky image) and unfortunately the un-marked disk has "major" stars as big blobs which really doesn't do the job I want.It has no input for a mains adapter. There is a knob to rotate the image but what's the point ? The whole thing could just be turned. It doesn't turn itself. As other people have mentioned there are only 2 film disks - with and without outlined only for northern hemisphere. There could so easily be more provided. It is also quite fiddly to assemble and operate. So, reasonable product (though with some irritating shortcomings) but mainly just not good enough to justify the price tag. I would recommend only at about a third of the price.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. BOUGHT 2, BOTH RUBBISH.
I bought two at same time and and DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING EVEN ONE. The first one - so fuzzy you cannot tell theyre meant to be focal points of light let along distinguish any constellations - no matter what you do with the focus adjuster, and no matter what distance you place it from your projection screen. There are large concentric circles of light artefact which ARE extremely clear. Tried both discs. Assumed the 1st one was a one off broken one (had been going to keep one for myself as I am a keen astronomer and the other a gift for my son) and threw it away assuming it was was an isolated case. Just opened up the second (discovered during house move) and to my horror exactly the same. It's rare a product is SO bad I'm driven to take the time to write a review but this is one of those times. It's light, cheaper than it looks, plastic and the star projection is so poor its of no use for even an atmospheric light as a poor second back up function. Don't buy it.

Very educational
It was fantastic. It's given my daughter and I some wonderful moments together laying down discussing shapes and pictures. It's also accurate and informative detailing a large scope of facts appropriate for all ages. Yr the only critisism I would make was how quickly the battery went. I was surprised how much juice the projector takes, as out had an automatic cut off after half an hour, which also is a great feature. It can be used as a night light for younger children, and an exciting educational tool for older children and adults. Out would have been useful to have the names of the constellations on the actual slide, as you currently hve to cross reference with the laptop our booklet. I would also suggest as constructive development opportunity, to include a simplified overview of the information stated. It can be write complicated to use the moon circle etc. great idea, but not appropriate for your younger target audience. I would suggest as a night light with a difference, this would appeal to more young people than older.

Excellent! Good value for money!
It’s brilliant, my daughter loves it! Much less tacky than others and you can see star constellations and natural looking stars. Move the grey circle to focus it, you might have to turn both ways quite a lot to get a crisp picture. If you are still not getting a crisp picture you might have the disk in badly as it’s not the easiest to figure out from the instructions. Very pleased with the purchase and great value.
