The Essential Urban Farmer

I got lots of good advice from this book for how to start a garden with irrigation system. It has a lot of other interesting topics/ideas that makes urban farming feel more approachable/doable.

As an over all book, it is done well. It covers a wide range of information & pratices that will help newbies and vets alike. It will provide a good base to start for the newbie. It will give the vet a new spin on things that they do now or mabey an easier way to do them.It provides the most of the things that a good urban farmer will need to know or should be doing.

After reading Carpenter's _Farm City_ I was delighted to see that she collaborated on this bountiful book. Similar in some ways to Carla Emery's _Encyclopedia of Country Living_, this book is packed with nitty-gritty urban/suburban sustainability practices. Even if you don't want to raise goats, perhaps you need information on backyard chickens. The advice for taking steps to acquire/use empty lots for gardening is based on solid urban gardening experience.

I like this book pretty informative not an encyclopedia of info but not fillers and fluff either!

The best book I've ever seen on urban farming!

Novella is a little bit of a snarky writer sometimes and I love her for it. She is straight up, no bs here is how it is and what was cool and what sucked, and I love that. don't stop writing!

I own quite a few gardening books and this is the most in depth yet readable one I have read. Plenty of details but not overwhelming. I highly recommend it for anyone who is serious about gardening in a climate similar to the Northern California/ Mediterranean'ish types.

This is a fantastic book. Well written, good tips, tricks, and sound environmental farming/production practices... for anyone! Beyond the urban farmer, anyone with a backyard garden or even a moderate 10 to 100 acres might well learn something from the authors. Well done! I'm going to purchase several for family members.

Excelente libro, creo que es un básico de todos los que deseen iniciar su huerto urbano deben de tener. Contiene tablas de separación de cultivos y algunos ejemplos de asociación de cultivos. Contiene esquemas de como sembrar para tener una mayor cosecha. No duden en comprarlo, es una excelente inversión.

She is a great writer, and if you hope to be an urban homesteader, she'd be the one to read.
