Glass is healthier for hot beverages which also taste better!
Drinking water and hot beverages from this mug taste so much purer than from my old ceramic mugs and stainless steel bottles and mugs. This glass mug holds almost 17 oz. It's made of durable borosilicate glass that's dishwasher safe. Though it doesn't keep my morning tea hot as long as an expensive stainless steel-lined mug, this mug is double walled for insulation, helpful if you enjoy lingering over coffee or tea. These days, I'm cautious about drinking acidic and hot beverages from ceramic and stainless steel due to reports of unhealthy substances possibly leaching from those materials, and that's much less likely to happen with glass - plus the taste is purer.

Does what they say

Just what I was looking for
I brew tea at either 160 or 212 (for herbal or black respectively) but I don't like drinking my tea at those temperatures. So a thermos doesn't work for me because it does it's job too well. And a regular mug I forget about until my tea is cold. This keeps my tea warm but also allows for the tea to cool so I can actually drink it.Whatever feature makes it so I can feel the heat before I drink (I think it's the double lip wall?) is great. My tea cools down slowly and no more scalding my tongue to learn it's still too hot.The product description says it's sturdy but I haven't put it to the test.It does feel like real glass on the outside, so I'm not sure how durable it is. But I've been careful with it because I love these mugs. They're also so big I am able to brew two tea bags at a time.I will likely buy more of these in the future. I really like them!

Nice cup, but it's smaller than 500ml
It won't hold a 16-oz bottle of water when making tea. 500 ml = 16.9 oz. Go figure. Microwave-safe is good, though. And it's comfortable to hold.

If you like broken glassware - Ovalware is for you!!
They will most likely arrive broken. The manufacturer ( Ovalware ) thinks its ok to ship glassware cross country in a flimsy box with NO PADDING INSIDE the box. The two mugs just rattle and bounce against each other the whole way. One mug had a broken handle, the other was all scratched up. They cost $22 USD EACH. Back they go.

My new favorite mugs
I love that these keep my drink warm and insulate my hands from the hot liquid. The thin drinking edge is more comfortable than some double wall mugs with a wide lip.

Not covered, so heat/cold escapes from the top, sort of fragile.
My mugs arrived damaged. That can happen to any glass items that get shipped, but I can see that the packaging is partly to blame. The cups arrive in a box with the ears turned inward to ensure they fit. Clearly the two handles made contact as one of them came cracked with a dime-sized shard broken off.So the mugs are a little fragile, as most glass items are, just maybe have poorly designed packaging.I washed a mug out and made some tea. There was an oily patina to the surface of my tea. Dumped the tea and scrubbed the mug more thoroughly. There was no oily substance after the second, more intense wash.I did not notice any increased length of time that the tea was kept warm due to the design of the mug and they were still somewhat "warm" to the touch on the outside.Almost $50 for 2 mugs with dubious thermal capabilities and fragile materials.
