Best dynamic mic! Shure rocks for sure!
I did a lot of research before buying this mic. I needed a dynamic mic for both karaoke and home recording. I have a condenser mic but it is so sensitive that it picks up too much background noises like birds chirping or noisy neighbours. I decided to go for a good cardioid mic.I tried several other brands but result was not good enough as they failed to reproduce a clean recording - either bass was vibrating or treble was screeching or too much explosion on 'p' sounds.I received the SM58 yesterday and immediately tried to record some dry vocals using UM2 audio interface and Cubase DAW. The result was beyond expectations - no noise, no explosion on 'p' sounds, 's' sounds were natural and the recording exactly reproduced what was sung. Obviously the karaoke live performance testing was great as well. It has great proximity effect and in built pop filter. No need to do any extra setup for the mic.Simply sing! I have become a big fan of Shure! SM58 is certainly considered as the industry standard for good reason. It is very well built and looks pretty durable. It is an asset and definitely worth the money.

Best home recording mic (vocals, YouTube videos etc.)
One of the best microphones for home recording (song vocals, youtube video narrations etc. is what I use this for), which is unbeatable for this price. Packaging was bad. The inner package (pic attached) was torn, outer package was drenched in some sort of oil. I had to return the first time as the part connecting to the mic stand was missing in the package. Amazon delivered a replacement the very next day. Immediately recorded some voice samples. Clarity is quite good. They say there's an in built pop filter, but still sounds like p, b, ph, s were not filtered. Suggest to maintain the recommended distance from the mic while recording.Overall, I'm happy with this mic!

Length of the microphone is very short
Length of the microphone is very short. It completely hides in palm. Why packing is so bad. There is no proper box with Shure SM58 branding. Even cheaper products like Maono has very good box with its branding.

Excellent product
The SM58S is an excellent product, with good and clear sound output. I initially misunderstood the operating system, which doesn’t require any batteries.

Amazing microphone..IMPORTANT INFO.
MUST READ!!!!At first I thought the mic wasn't working..Would like to bring it to everyone's knowledge that there are 2 reasons for your mic to not work when directly plugged in..One is either the microphone cable isn't the compatible one. If you check the wiring manual on the 58 or 57, the pins 2 and 3 are in use while the pin 1 is isolated..making most common cables useless incase those cable were for condenser microphones..whatever the reason..do look out for your pin configuartion on your cable before getting upset as to why isn't your mic working..Secondly..use a multimeter and carry out a simple continuity check to check the output of the cable's pins.. that way you'd be able to know which pin connects to which side on the other end of the cable..And the most important reason why your mic probably isn't working is because of IMPEDANCE MISMATCH..now that is common on a low impedance microphone like the SM57 n 58 n many other dynamic mics..to come straight to the point after a little research I happened to realize all of this and finally decided I'd need a impedance transformer to gear up to my mics rear end of the cable which connects to the high impedance pre amp that i have..(Most of us have high impedance amps..probably a guitar amp too has a high impedance as its input)ALSO if your amp is a low impedance one don't be surprised if it works with a low volume on your guitar amp with no much signal strenth and quality .. This is probably because of impedance mismatch..and Shure and many companies like Audix have awesome impedance transformers to purchase from. The mic with the tranformer on sounds a 1000 times better than it would have otherwise..if you possess a sound card..you dont need to bother about purchasing a impedance transformer since the interface will do it for you..HOPE THIS HELPS..Big thnx to Amazon.. These guys are great most of the time..Also the model of the shure transformer was Shure A95UF and Shure A85F..

Mic not working.
It's not worth the cost. Mine does not transmit the sound to speaker. And I have been fighting tooth andcnail to return the product. The on off switch is very loose. Can't say anything about sound quality, as its not working only.

Incredible. Invest in an SM58.
I have been touring with it and it is a legend for a reason. Incredible build quality, balanced sound production, and the brand Shure, all of these things make up for a great microphone. Once you buy Shure, it is always going to prove as an investment and not expenditure.
